At Symmetry, we are dedicated to fashion both as a form of artistic expression as well as a reflection of the culture in which it is rooted.  We seek to create pieces of great beauty and high quality, yet we also seek to utilize fashion as an important social force with the power to express the ideals of a particular culture.   The growing Muslim-American community is creating a culture of its own that seeks to comfortably merge its religious principles and American cultural roots.   Symmetry is committed to the healthy and thoughtful development of this multifaceted identity through fashion that is modern and inventive, and through an open-minded attitude towards the diversity of opinions and expressions of this identity.  

        While Symmetry was born out of a desire to create confident Muslim-American cultural expressions through fashion, we seek to reach beyond the category of so-called "Islamic clothing."  America is made up of many cultures that express themselves differently and at times overlap.  We hope that regardless of ethnicity, or whatever faith or lifestyle you embrace, you will find something you love in our collection.   For example our debut piece, the Symmetry Signature Scarf, has been carefully designed so that it can be worn in many different ways.  You might cover your head for religious reasons, medical reasons, or simply because you like the look or are having a bad hair day.   Enjoy the ability to create your own look, suited to your own purpose and style, with the Symmetry Scarf.

Symmetry Fashion Donation Program

Every so often, Symmetry will choose a cause or organization and donate a portion of its net sales made during that time towards it.  While there are no set criteria for what type of organizations Symmetry will choose, and we are open to all causes, we will often focus on organizations that deal with issues affecting women and children, as well as those that empower people economically and educationally. 

Our current recipient is Kiva – Loans that Change Lives – an organization that allows individuals to lend money to entrepreneurs in the developing world so that they can establish their own businesses and lift themselves out of poverty.  The purpose of this organization is inspiring and its success rate is astounding.  An entrepreneur will be chosen and our donation will go towards helping him or her achieve economic independence.  Once the loan is paid back, we will continue lending this donation money to new entrepreneurs in perpetuity, helping one person after another.  Visit Kiva’s website to learn more, at www.kiva.org.
